An ocassional series...

Elin's Mum's Raleigh - 12th January 2014

There's nothing we love more here in the workshop, than to take a tired yet classic Raleigh and completely rejuvenate it. Elin had inherited this bike from her mum and whilst she wanted to keep the look and style, the gear shifting and braking performance was badly in need of improvement.

After a full strip and rebuild including new wheels, mudguards, transmission, dérailleurs, powerful powerful dual pivot calliper brakes and integrated 'STI' brake and gear levers (amongst other parts) - this bike has been brought into the 21st century whilst retaining it's original charm.

P.s. Please note - we were out of stock of white bar tape when the bike was originally done. If you see it around the streets of Brighton and Hove you'll notice this has now been rectified.

Jack Stoakes Specialbike - 29th November 2013

Jack came to us with his ageing genesis hybrid requesting something a little faster with a unique look. Many of the original components were in good shape, but a drop type handlebar conversion was decided upon to provide a variety of riding positions for longer rides. Once Jack had decided on the colour - a Bianchi-esque turquoise the bike was stripped and sent for powder coating. The bike was then rebuilt with the new drop bars, Shimano's solid Sora shifters, and new dual pivot brakes. To complete the look white cables were used and the bars were taped in vibrant orange. A quick and striking machine!

Hetchins classic Gentleman's racer - 20th August 2013

It's a rare thing to have all the mechanics here at SCB cooing over the same bike, but this classic handlbuilt here in England in the 1950's has done just that. A sympathetic restoration job that required much elbow grease to remove the rust and make that beautiful frame shine. New tyres and a Brooks saddle and bar tape finish the bike perfectly. A true work of art.

They don't make them like they used to. Look at those lugs, what amazing workmanship. Just stunning. Thanks for sharing.

What a classic! My Dad had a similar Hetchins for many years which I was always very envious of. Great work

Santa Cruz Blur LT - 28th July 2013

Now here is a bike that gets used properly. Regular trips to the Alps and other trail centres has resulted in a series of upgrades to suit the owner's riding style and requirements. Replacing the outer chainring with a bash ring and chain device ensures durability and reliability, and a dropper post means the bike is versatile enough to tackle the most lung-burning of climbs as well as the heart pounding descents.

Specialized Rockhopper - 25th June 2013

A 14 year old Specialized Rockhopper that has been thoroughly upgraded and modernised. New forks, handlebars, stem and brakes have brought the riding experience up to date whilst retaining the classic look of this popular mountain bike. As a mechanic, rejuvenating bikes like this is a real highlight and the end result is something totally unique.

Peugeot Equippe - 10th June 2013

Found propped up outside an antique shop and on sale at £99 this classic 80's Peugoet racer was in excellent condition given it's age. The original non indexed 10spd setup (whilst a great set of gears) was in need of updating for it's new owner however.
